About Us
Sri Lanka Association for Laboratory Animal Science (SLALAS) established in December 2012 is the umbrella organization which brings together all researchers who have an interest in laboratory animal science.
Who We Are
SLALAS is the apex organization dedicated to Laboratory Animal Science in Sri Lanka. We are committed to promote animal welfare and the ethical use of laboratory animals with the promotion of the “3R concept’ (Refinement, Reduction and Replacement) in Laboratory Animal Science.
What We Do
Promote 3R by conducting Certificate Course on Laboratory Animal Science -annually
Conduct specific training on Pain Management/Anaesthesia -through workshops/training etc.
Promote use of Alternatives to animal experimentation -through workshops/training etc.
Develop and implement harmonized protocols/guidelines for use and care of animals -preparation of guidelines
